Dubai Exhibition Centre set to Expand

Dubai Exhibition Centre’s $2.7bn expansion will create a 1.2km venue for 65,000 daily visitors, with Phase 2 adding 7,000 parking spaces.

Dubai World Trade Centre said construction of Phase 2 has progressed through 2026, with the next stage set to increase indoor event space to 160,000sq m and daily visitor capacity to around 60,000.

The development will also include new multi-storey parking facilities initially providing around 7,000 spaces, an extended Concourse connecting the Phase 1 and Phase 2 halls and a new Eastern Access Road improving connectivity with Expo City Dubai and existing drop-off areas.

Phase 1 was completed in early 2026, increasing purpose-built indoor event space to 140,000sq m and daily visitor capacity to 50,000 people.

The venue will be capable of accommodating 65,000 visitors a day and hosting more than 20 events simultaneously. The three-phase development forms part of Dubai World Trade Centre’s AED10bn ($2.72bn) expansion of the Expo City Dubai venue.

Amer Al Farsi, Vice President of Real Estate Development at Dubai World Trade Centre, said: “The expansion of DEC is ultimately about staying ahead of the future requirements of the global events industry. Phase 1 has already demonstrated the scale and flexibility the expanded venue can provide and we are now building on that foundation through Phase 2. The expansion continues to advance in line with our plans, while DEC remains fully operational. Our ambition goes beyond creating greater capacity and scale; we are building a world-class venue that delivers an exceptional experience for organisers, exhibitors and visitors. As the expansion progresses, we are creating the infrastructure and flexibility needed to support larger and more complex international events and Dubai’s long-term growth as a global business events destination.”
