Dubai’s Museum of the Future Opens This Month

It has been announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai that the highly-anticipated Museum of the Future will open to the public on February 22.

Named as one of the 14 most beautiful museums on the planet in a list compiled by National Geographic magazine in July, the attraction has long been lauded as an architectural marvel. When revealing the launch of the museum on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed hailed on striking structure as the ‘most beautiful building on earth’.

Spanning an area of 30,000sq m and seven-storeys, the museum is 77m tall. The vast space will be home to a research centre with labs and classrooms, as well as dedicated space for exploring and experiencing new technologies. The stainless steel façade is illuminated by 14,000m of Arabic calligraphy designed by the Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej and 1,024 plates manufactured by robots in a first of its kind venture in the Middle East.

The futuristic museum is primed to be an incubator of ingenuity, showcasing advanced technologies that are set to shape society for decades to come.
