5+design is a creative international architecture and planning practice
with studios in Hollywood, Shanghai, and Dubai. Led by founding princi-
pals Michael Ellis, Stan Hathaway, and Arthur Benedetti, their work en-
compasses retail, mixed-use, residential, and large-scale urban planning.
We design our projects upon the foundations of three core principles…
Community, Connectivity, and Contextuality. Their architects, planners,
designers, and administrative staff reflect the diversity of its three office
locations, the places where we work, and the world we live in today. The
three office locations are in Hollywood, California in the US, Dubai in the
UAE and Shanghai in China.

rector of Construction Jamie Armitage. BSBG strives to produce evoca-
tive architectural design with an almost utopian ideal, an aspirational vi-
sion which stems from the freedom to express new ideas, and to design
what comes naturally. Their ethos is founded upon the concept of arti-
sanal, blue sky thinking with a purpose. As designers, they believe we have
a responsibility to connect with and promote the wellbeing of people.

Design International was founded in 1965 in Toronto, Canada and
quickly built a reputation for truly innovative design, particularly in retail
architecture. Indeed, the practice pioneered many design features that
have since become industry benchmarks. These include the use of glazed
roofs to create covered “streets” that are flooded with daylight (Bugis
Junction, Singapore) and creating mall that integrated retail and enter-
tainment under one roof. Driven by a philosophy that seeks to shape
local stories to provide unique experiences for every visitor, the practice
continues to push the boundaries of retail architecture.
jerde
Jon Jerde founded The Jerde Partnership in 1977 as a seven-person
firm charged with transforming San Diego’s urban core into what is now
known as Horton Plaza. Today, JERDE’s headquarter studio is in Los An-
geles, California – the entertainment capital of the world. This is not by
accident. No one creates urban theatre like JERDE. They are an extension
of the city’s diversity and community of artists, architects, photographers
and other creatives. JERDE is a boutique firm with global reach and a
DESIGN INTERNATIONAL dedicated team of architects, urban planners, and landscape designers
who pride themselves on making places, not objects.
