The apparel retailer will be increasing its smaller store, off-mall format by adding six new Express Edit stores that will bring it to a total of 11 locations.
The Express Edit banner launched over two years ago back in 2020 and before this announcement operated five sites, with stores in Southlake, Texas; Westport, Connecticut; Washington, D.C.; Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; and St. Louis, Missouri.
“These stores [Express Edit] acquire new customers, reactivate lapsed customers and sign up Express insiders at higher rates than the balance of our fleet, and boost digital sales in the surrounding ZIP code,” Express CEO Tim Baxter said on the company’s first-quarter earnings call. He also noted that the St. Louis women-only store, which opened in late March, is already “our most productive of these formats to date.”
