The Royal Exchange, the City of London’s leading luxury destination, has further strengthened its premium offer with the expansion of designer jewellery and goods brand Georg Jensen at the historic scheme.
The Danish group, which first opened at The Royal Exchange in 2015, has moved to a new, larger unit within the internal Courtyard, to capitalise on the strong trading performance of the scheme and showcase a wider range of products. It has taken unit 15, a prominent space at the front entrance to the Royal Exchange totalling 1,000sq ft, on a new 10-year lease.
With a history that spans more than 100 years, the Georg Jensen brand represents quality craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic design, producing lifestyle products ranging from hollowware to watches, jewellery and home products.
The enlarged presence represents a significant vote of confidence in The Royal Exchange’s position as the foremost luxury quarter in the Square Mile and reflects the strength of both footfall and sales growth at the destination.
The Royal Exchange has the City of London’s leading luxury line-up, with brands such as Tiffany & Co., Bremont, Omega, Montblanc and Hermès all having made long-term commitments to the scheme. The retail offer is complemented by a range of dining and socialising options – including Engel and Jang, The Libertine and the Fortnum & Mason bar and restaurant – drawing new visitors to the area both during the week and at weekends.
The success of The Royal Exchange’s offer can be seen in rising visitor numbers, with footfall 12 per cent higher in 2025 than in 2024. Its growth is reflected in the City of London’s wider luxury retail and social resurgence; visitor and worker numbers are underpinning strong demand for stores, bars and restaurants, while the creation of a new public realm at Bank is showing the historic building at its best. TfL data for 2025 shows 31.1 million passengers entered or exited at Bank station, adjacent to The Royal Exchange – an increase of 4 per cent on 2024 levels.
Andrew Hilston, Managing Director of The Ardent Companies UK, said: “The Royal Exchange is the City’s foremost luxury destination, something that is underlined by brands such as Georg Jensen expanding their store and making a long-term commitment to the scheme. Its growth at the scheme, on the back of strong trading and increasing visitor numbers, represents a vote of confidence in The Royal Exchange’s position as the leading place to shop, eat and socialise in the Square Mile.”
