Giant expands in to Germany with new dealer-led concept stores

The two stores opened last month, with the Leipzig store offering 450 square metres of retail space, including 50 square metres dedicated to Giant’s dedicated women’s brand, Liv.

Giant’s goal is to open between six and eight new stores in Germany each year.

Leander Naumann, who will lead the new store in Leipzig, believes that the cross-brand dealer-led approach will be beneficial to all: “From the low beginner to the downhill bike. Giant is also very strong in the e-bike sector; saddles, Vario props, wheels, bicycle bags, helmets or cycling shoes: We can offer our customers the full range of bicycles and the accompanying utensils.

“The traditional company has existed for more than 100 years, we continue to offer a cross-brand service. As the Shimano service center, we work exclusively with Shimano products, are highly trained and offer sustainable solutions at fair prices.”

Naumann’s father-in-law took over the family’s bike business in 1986 from the founding family, and even though Giant will come to the fore from now on, the store continues to operate under the signet of Fahrrad Preisser.

The Taiwan-based bike manufacturer has been investing in its own concept stores for around 15 years, and already has 65 Giant stores in France, where qualified dealers are gained as independent partners.

Giant has made a number of recent moves in to Europe, one of which includes the opening of a new e-Bike focused production facility in Hungary, last year.
