Yamamoto Hamburg, the authentic Japanese hamburg specialist celebrated for energising communities with a heartfelt approach to everyday dining, debuts in Hong Kong in February 2026 at PopCorn, Tseung Kwan O. Its acclaimed handmade hamburg patties – freshly crafted from carefully sourced beef and pork and served with specially cultivated rice in a welcoming environment – aim to bring warmth and cheer to all.

Founded in 2005 by Chef Shohei Yamamoto, a dining visionary who proclaims that “hamburg is best when it’s freshly made”, the brand has a strong presence in Japan. The expansion to Hong Kong follows the successful arrival of innovative sister restaurant Hikiniku to Come in 2024.

Rooted in a wholesome culinary philosophy inspired by the home cooking Chef Yamamoto enjoyed as a boy, Yamamoto Hamburg prepares dishes from stringently selected ingredients that ensure quality and safety while never compromising on taste. The stars are the signature hamburgs, freshly made from premium ground Australian Black Angus beef and Spanish pork, then cooked to perfection for a juicy, tender bite with rich, layered flavours.

Paired with a choice of toppings and sauces, the hamburgs carry the warmth of a homemade meal, elevated by the skill of professional chefs. Options range from Classic Feast Hamburg to enticing and inventive specialities. High‑quality Japanese rice, offered with unlimited refills to satisfy all appetites, complements every hamburg experience.

The Hong Kong opening marks Yamamoto Hamburg’s second expansion outside Japan after Taiwan, reflecting the brand’s commitment to presenting authentic Japanese comfort food to global gourmands.

“Since opening in Tokyo two decades ago, my vision has been to share the joy of Japanese handmade hamburg – crafted with safe, reliable ingredients and the warmth of home cooking – with the world, so I am delighted to introduce my first hamburg brand, Yamamoto Hamburg, to Hong Kong,” says Chef Yamamoto.

“Compared to the innovative style of Hikiniku to Come, Yamamoto Hamburg presents an authentic daily feast centred upon family and the comforting essence of Japanese dining, just as my mother used to prepare. We chose Tseung Kwan O’s PopCorn Mall as our debut location for the warmth and vibrancy of the local community and its accessibility – a place where everyone can feel at ease and enjoy our delicious hamburgs together.”

Spanning 1,700 sq. ft, the Hong Kong flagship will echo the brand’s warm, family-style ethos. Inviting interiors featuring natural wood accents, soft lighting and comfortable seating for more than 60 diners are designed to foster connection.
