Jeddah Airports Company started phased operations at Terminal 4 of King Abdulaziz International Airport last week. The new Terminal 4 adds annual capacity for up to 15 million additional passengers at Saudi Arabia’s busiest airport.
Wizz Air, AJet and SalamAir became the first carriers to shift flights into the redeveloped terminal. Jeddah Airports plans further transfers from the North Terminal, Terminal 1 and the Hajj and Umrah Terminals.
Terminal 4 covers 97,000sq m and has been redeveloped from the airport’s former South Terminal. Jeddah Airports is assigning the facility as a dedicated international terminal serving low-cost carriers.
Passenger processing infrastructure includes 62 check-in counters and 66 passport control counters. Terminal systems also include an advanced baggage handling system and dedicated services linking Terminal 4 with Terminal 1.
Jeddah Airports has installed separate group check-in facilities for Hajj and Umrah passengers. Group processing routes passengers through passport control, security screening, departure lounges and boarding gates.
Terminal 4 also provides premium lounges, duty-free retail, passenger services and ground transport connections. Taxis, ride-hailing services, shuttle buses and parking facilities support passenger access to the terminal.
