Jeddah to be Home to New International Cricket Stadium

The agreement between Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation and Pakistan Cricket Board aims to support international tournaments, talent development and sports tourism in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed an agreement to develop an international cricket stadium in Jeddah, as the Kingdom continues to expand its sports infrastructure under Vision 2030.

The strategic memorandum of understanding was signed between the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation and the Pakistan Cricket Board, with the two sides set to collaborate on a world-class venue capable of hosting major international cricket tournaments and other sporting events.

The agreement was welcomed by Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation.

The proposed Jeddah stadium is expected to strengthen the Kingdom’s ability to host international cricket events and attract teams, competitions and fans from overseas. Cricket has a large following among expatriate communities in Saudi Arabia and across the wider Gulf, particularly among South Asian residents.

The agreement also covers wider cricket development in the Kingdom, including support for players, coaches and match officials. The two boards are expected to work together on technical programmes, competitive tournaments and knowledge exchange, aimed at building a more sustainable cricket ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
