Available by appointment only, the Atelier at the Loro Piana store in New York at Madison Avenue aims to extend the lifespan of the maison’s garments through specialised mending and care services, while offering clients a closer look at the materials and craftsmanship behind its collections.
The experience is structured around three chapters. The first explores the characteristics and origins of Loro Piana’s fibres, including vicuña, cashmere and linen, among others. The second examines the maison’s textile expertise and the technologies used to enhance the natural properties of its materials, while the third focuses on garment repair.
The atelier also introduces a collection of plant-derived soaps formulated specifically for the maison’s precious fibres. The detergents combine gentle botanical cleansing agents with extracts of oat, hemp, mauve and aloe vera, with formulations tailored to different materials. Designed for regular garment care, the soaps aim to preserve colour while maintaining the softness and volume of the fabrics.
The space features displays detailing the history and development of Loro Piana’s textiles, highlighting the company’s heritage and approach to material innovation. A dedicated hospitality manager is available to guide clients through the experience.
The Madison Avenue flagship is one of three stores the house operates in New York. The space, at the 748 Madison Avenue flagship by 65th Street, was described by the brand as suffused light that enhances the warmth of oak wood and the signature kummel accents.
