In celebration of the 130th anniversary of the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram, the House has temporarily taken over a heritage building in Bangkok’s Chinatown district, transforming it into the ‘Louis Vuitton Hotel’.
If you’re headed to Baan Trok Tua Ngork between now and 15 March, you’ll find that this ancestral five-storey home in Bangkok’s Chinatown has been given a lavish makeover à la ‘LV’. In celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton monogram, the brand has temporarily taken over Baan Trok, transforming the heritage quarters into the ‘Louis Vuitton Hotel’ – a multi-storey exhibition created for diehard fans of the fashion house and its iconic trademarked pattern.
The first level serves as an amuse-bouche for the experience to come. Walk past mannequins decked out in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, with monogrammed luggage in tow, to reach the glass elevators or take the stairs.
The second level is where the exhibition truly begins, spotlighting the Keepall, Louis Vuitton’s pioneering soft travel bag – first introduced in 1930. A ‘Keepall Lobby’ has been designed to make guests feel as though they’re checking into the Louis Vuitton Hotel, complete with a reception. Throughout this space, visitors can appreciate different iterations of the monogrammed Keepall as they wait to “check in”. There is also a concierge where guests can access hot-stamping services and a range of customisation options conceived exclusively for the Louis Vuitton Hotel experience.
Up another level, guests will discover the Neverfull Gym and Noé Bar, highlighting two more monogrammed icons of Louis Vuitton. Introduced in 2007, the Neverfull is one of Louis Vuitton’s lighter handbags, constructed like a tote and weighing approximately 800 grams. Yet it is capable of carrying up to 100 kilograms. This hidden strength is expressed through the hotel’s mini gym setting, fitted with a bench press and monogrammed punching bag.
On the fourth and final level, the Speedy Room 1930 and Alma Terrace await. The Speedy Room 1930 takes guests back to the origins of this monogrammed icon through interactive installations, including a vintage telephone through which guests can hear the Speedy’s heritage narrative and a dressing room-like space where the bag takes centre stage, surrounded by charms and styling options.
