Midtown West to See Significant Investment in Architecture Projects

New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo has pledged an investment of $51bn in New York’s Midtown West neighbourhood.

The investment will be used to build a pier park and a rooftop farm atop the Javtis Center as well as turning a police vehicle compound located on a waterfront pier into an extension of the Hudson River Park. At the moment, the pier is used to store confiscated vehicles; however upon renovation the park will include outdoor seating and dining areas.

The expansion of the Jatvis Center is already underway. The extension, which is being led by design consortium LendLease Turner, will add around 1.2 million square feet of gallery and events space as well as an acre of urban farmland.

Fourteen new buildings are planned for a mix of residential and commercial uses and up to 1400 new home will be built. As well as this, a brand new bus terminal has been announced to replace the current Port Authority Bus Terminal building and further development of Penn Station is also planned.
