New York Brand TWP Opens First International Store in London

TWP opens its first store outside the United States, taking up residence at 28 Bruton Street in London. The opening marks a new chapter for the New York-born label; one of now 12 stores globally, and its first overseas – as founder Trish Wescoat Pound brings her take on American sportswear to London.

Boasting 2,200 square-foot, the boutique has been designed to honour the character of the building as much as the spirit of the brand. The original panelled walls have been left untouched, while wall-to-wall seagrass flooring – a TWP signature underfoot at its Madison Avenue store – grounds the space in the label’s easy, unstudied sensibility.

Vintage finds, including an antique Swedish farm table, sit alongside custom bronze racks, while a swathe of grass installed the length of the shopfront window nods to the wide-open prairies of Wescoat Pound’s native Midwest. Furniture by English designer Rose Uniacke lends the space a distinctly London finish.

As at every TWP store, art plays as central a role as fashion. In partnership with Onna House gallery, a longstanding collaborator championing female artists, the Bruton Street store will exhibit Lattice Orb Sculptures, a ceramic centrepiece by Deborah Brett, alongside Wall of Fragments, a striking installation of glazed broken ceramics by Jaclyn Mednicov that greets shoppers at the entrance. In the fitting rooms, two further works by Mednicov, Meadow and Garden, render wildflowers and meadow grasses in acrylic on fabric. True to TWP’s ethos, every piece on display is available to buy.

Trish Wescoat Pound founded TWP to offer her own take on American Sportswear: effortless, unbound, understated pieces that complement the reality of women’s lives. Raised in Oklahoma though undoubtedly a New Yorker at heart, she blends the utilitarian spirit of the American Midwest with a metropolitan sensibility. Each season draws upon Trish’s core influences: American heritage workwear, men’s inspired shirting and tailoring, and the brand’s home, New York City. TWP prides itself on working with a small team of talented craftspeople to manufacture collections locally in New York City. TWP uses the highest quality fabrics, predominantly sourced from heritage mills in Italy.
