Saudi has made its landmark debut in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide, marking a defining moment in the country’s rapidly evolving culinary scene.
Saudi is now officially part of the world’s most prestigious culinary circle with the launch of the 2026 MICHELIN Guide. This debut marks a defining moment in the country’s rapid gastronomic rise, bringing together just over fifty restaurants from Riyadh, Jeddah and AlUla. The Guide’s digital release signalled the moment Saudi embraced its role as a global dining destination, rewarding years of transformation in its hospitality scene.
For travellers and food lovers, it introduces a new layer of discovery, one where Saudi’s culinary ambition takes centre stage and where chefs, concepts and ingredients come together in a story of evolution, confidence and culinary excellence.
Being featured in the Guide does not automatically mean a restaurant holds a Michelin Star. Instead, inclusion reflects a standard of excellence recognised worldwide. The Saudi edition introduces the same three categories found in every Michelin destination: Starred, Bib Gourmand and Selected. In this first year, Michelin’s focus is on establishing the baseline, observing consistency, creativity, ingredient quality, personality and mastery of technique. Inspectors have been quietly visiting restaurants throughout 2025, building a comprehensive understanding of the scene. This inaugural selection is therefore the beginning rather than the peak, laying the foundation for what will become a richly layered restaurant ecosystem.
