The retail empire of Arcadia, which Sir Philip Green owns has now been saved by a rescue deal that will trigger the closure of a total of 48 stores and 1000 jobs will be lost in the process. Green stated in an interview: ‘It didn’t come close to collapse – we won the vote.‘
The problems started for Arcadia when it started to fail to compete. All over fashion retailers on the high street offered the customer next innovation ways to browse their clothing, incorporated technology into the mix, but more importantly kept up to date with consumer trends and didn’t allow their stores to become stagnate and boring.
The Arcadia stores that are set to close are as follows:
- Aberdeen
- Ashton
- Bedford
- Bluewater
- Cheshunt
- Cork
- Dublin
- Fareham
- Galway
- Glasgow
- Luton
- Newcastle upon Tyne
- Nuneaton
- Reading
- Salisbury
- Southend
- Stirling
- Swindon
- York
