The discount retailer will close its Ocean Avenue store and its store in Cupertino, both in the San Francisco area.
Following the closure, Target will have five stores in San Francisco and dozens of locations through the Bay Area, ensuring that consumers in the area still have an easy access to the discount retailer.
“The decision to close a store is always difficult, and the company follows a rigorous annual process to evaluate the performance of every store in the portfolio and maintain the overall health of the business,” commented Jacqueline DeBuse, Spokesperson for Target.
She continued: “Target remains committed to the San Francisco Bay Area and will continue to serve guests at nearby stores.”
Target will continue to accelerate its new store openings, opening between 30 to 40 new stores annually and also has plans to remodel a number of stores over the next several years.
