The company is preparing to open its second UAE location at Saadiyat Grove in Abu Dhabi, bringing together local restaurants, drinks and entertainment in one venue.
The market will have 16 kitchens, including the region’s first Time Out Cafe, alongside two bars, a live stage, an area for competitive social activities and a large outdoor terrace. It will seat 711 guests across its indoor and outdoor spaces. Time Out says its line-up will combine established restaurants, local favourites and emerging talent. The first chefs and concepts have yet to be named.
The exact opening date is yet to be confirmed. The market’s food offer will be accompanied by a year-round programme of performances, entertainment and creative collaborations, with further details due ahead of launch.
Kevin Hilton, General Manager of Time Out Market Abu Dhabi, said: “The Market will celebrate the city and the people who make its culinary and cultural scene so special, bringing together outstanding local talent in one vibrant and welcoming destination. From exceptional food and drinks to live entertainment and cultural experiences, we are creating a place where residents and visitors can come together, discover something new and experience the best of Abu Dhabi. We look forward to revealing the first chefs and restaurateurs joining us very soon.”
Abu Dhabi follows the Dubai market, which opened at Souk Al Bahar in April 2021 and has remained a fixture of Downtown Dubai’s dining scene for more than five years. Its success has rested in part on keeping the offer fresh: new restaurants have joined the line-up since opening, while the venue has added cultural events alongside its food and drink offer. The Abu Dhabi venue will follow the same editorial model, with Time Out’s GCC team selecting operators intended to represent the city’s dining scene.
