Z Gallerie to Make a Comeback in Physical Retail Under its New Owner.

The modern furniture and home décor retailer, which was acquired out of bankruptcy in January 2024 for $7.2 million by online furniture retailer Karat Home, is set to open a warehouse outlet in Gardenia, Calif. in late March. (In fall 2023, Z Gallerie filed for bankruptcy for the third time, citing “severe liquidity constraints” resulting from “underperforming retail stores, adverse macroeconomic trends and industry-specific headwinds,” and subsequently closed all its stores.)

“Z Gallerie is about more than furniture — it’s about creating spaces that inspire and tell a story,” said Karat Home CEO Scarlett Fan. “This grand reopening represents our dedication to honoring the brand’s legacy while introducing a bold, modern vision for the future. With our enhanced shopping experience and strategic retail expansion, we are ensuring that customers can engage with our brand in ways that best suit their lifestyles.”

The Gardenia  location will feature exclusive warehouse deals while also supporting community recovery efforts following the Los Angelese wildfires by offering affordable home furnishings and making significant donations to local relief initiatives, the company said.
