ZEA has officially opened its doors in Dubai’s DIFC, launching a modern Mediterranean restaurant and lounge within Emirates Financial Towers.
The new venue adds to the district’s competitive dining landscape, positioning itself at the intersection of refined cuisine, crafted cocktails and late-night social energy.
Rooted in Mediterranean heritage and interpreted through a contemporary lens, ZEA takes its name from the ancient Greek symbol for the “grain of life”, a reference to nourishment, abundance and communal gathering. That philosophy underpins the concept’s approach to food, drink and atmosphere, with the venue designed to evolve from an elegant dining setting into a vibrant lounge as the evening progresses.
The kitchen is led by chef Donovan Clive Christian, whose menu focuses on clean flavours, premium produce and fire-driven techniques. Drawing inspiration from the coastal cuisines of France, Italy, Spain and Greece, the offering is complemented by subtle Peruvian influences that introduce brightness without shifting the Mediterranean core. The menu spans refined starters, open-fire mains and fresh pastas, with standout dishes including corn-fed baby chicken, Australian Wagyu tenderloin, lamb chops, black cod and handcrafted pasta selections. For groups, larger-format sharing plates such as Wagyu tomahawk and whole Dover sole reinforce the social, table-led experience.
“ZEA is born from a desire to create a space that feels both timeless and modern, rooted in Mediterranean culture, where food, drinks, music and people come together naturally,” said Prateek Chitkara, Founder of ZEA. “The ‘grain of life’ represents abundance, connection and shared moments and that spirit defines everything we are creating at ZEA.”
The beverage programme mirrors the kitchen’s philosophy, with cocktails built around Mediterranean botanicals, fresh herbs and citrus, alongside European spirits and a signature pisco influence as a nod to Peru. The wine list leans heavily into Old World regions, featuring labels from France, Italy and Spain, supported by a focused champagne selection and premium by-the-glass options.
According to General Manager Benoit Perelli, ZEA has been designed to shift pace throughout the night. “Guests can enjoy a refined dining experience early on, before the space transitions into a high-energy ambiance driven by music, crowd and social culture,” he said. “It is welcoming yet dynamic, elegant yet expressive and reflects Dubai’s vibrant dining and nightlife scene.”
