Plans for a £132m regeneration project in Poole, which include a new bus station and depot, a hotel and 430 apartments, are to be debated tomorrow (12 March 2019).
If approved by Borough of Poole’s Cabinet, procurement for the first part of the project could begin in the coming weeks. This includes the new leisure centre, up to 430 new residential apartments, new hotel and office on the existing Seldown car park and Dolphin Leisure Centre sites.
The second regeneration procurement package includes the new bus station, new public space and new off-site bus depot. Once Heads of Terms are finalised with Go South Coast the second procurement process could begin by Autumn 2019.
Cllr Ian Potter, cabinet portfolio holder for planning, regeneration and transportation, Borough of Poole, said: “These key documents demonstrate the Council’s commitment to leading the regeneration in Poole and securing Poole’s future by creating new housing, employment, economic prosperity and an enhanced public space that local residents and visitors want to utilise.
“Although the Council is a major land owner in the area, we are actively working with other third-party land owners and key stakeholders to provide a town centre that is vibrant, with retail and leisure facilities that we can be proud of and an area where our residents want to live, work, socialise and play. Residents can find out about these plans via pooleprogress.com.” The project will become the responsibility of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) from 1 April.
