With a brand new donut shop opening in downtown Wilmington this Friday, Market Street will officially be “running on Dunkin,'” the city said. The store — owned by Bhupen and Falguni Patel — will be in a refurbished building at 701 North Market Street, across the street from Starbucks and next to Cavanaugh’s Restaurant.
To mark the occasion, Dunkin’ will be offering customers 99-cent medium hot coffee or iced coffee from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, with proceeds benefiting The Wilmington Library. Customers who bring canned goods to donate to the Food Bank of Delaware will receive a free medium coffee.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., the city said in a press release. The grand opening celebration will include a live DJ, face painting, raffles and prizes. “We are pleased to welcome the Patel family to our growing Downtown District family, and I am confident that Dunkin’ will be a fine addition to the many new eating and drinking establishments up and down Market Street,” Mayor Mike Purzycki said in a statement.
In September, Dunkin’ Donuts announced it would rename itself Dunkin’ to reflect its increasing emphasis on coffee and other drinks. The latest Wilmington store features the new signage and will be open seven days a week.
