The changing makeup of malls is reflected in the new tenant that has big plans for Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan.
Brookfield Properties, in partnership with Convene, a fast-growing company that provides flexible meeting, event and work spaces, will open a 73,000-sq.-ft. multi-use location at Brookfield Place in the space that was occupied by the now-closed Saks Fifth Avenue store. Convene will build and operate the venue, which will have two large spaces with seating for up to 500 people each, along with several other smaller rooms. The new venue, expected to open in November, will also include a café.
