Sweden’s Hemköp Adds Nine Stores To Group

Swedish retailer Hemköp, which is part of the Axfood Group, has announced a cooperation with Östenssons, an independent grocery store chain in the Östergötland region. The agreement will see the nine stores in the chain join Hemköp as independent retailers, while retaining the Östenssons branding.

Elsewhere, Anders Lindblom, president of Östenssons, said that the group was “looking forward to our alliance with Hemköp, which will add new competence and give us tools for continued growth”. Östenssons was established in 1964 by entrepreneur Gösta Östensson and is currently owned by his daughter Karina Lindblad and her husband Håkan Lindblad.
