An enormous inflatable luminarium will appear in Salford next month as part of the Quays Culture Summer Festival, promising to instill a ‘sense of wonder’ in visitors. The Arboria structure has three main domes to explore, each one eight metres high and dominated by a single colour, all decorated in tree-inspired motifs.

The spectacular inflatable comes from Architects of Air, the same designers behind the Pentalum that had hour-long queues forming at last year’s Bluedot festival in Cheshire. It is part of a free four-day festival of world class performances, taking place between May 30 and June 2.

Arboria is inspired by trees. Quays Festival 2019 will begin with the launch of the Arboria structure at the MediaCityUK Piazza, and will culminate in a performer walking a 200m tightrope across the quays, using only a pole for balance. There will also be dance performances taking place inside the luminarium throughout the festival.
