Abu Dhabi to Develop New Island

Abu Dhabi will develop a new island community under a 20 million square metre Aldar-DMT partnership spanning housing, retail and lifestyle projects.

The developments will include residential, retail, educational and lifestyle destinations, alongside an expansion of Abu Dhabi’s Value Housing Programme aimed at increasing access to high-quality rental housing across the emirate.

The partnership will also see Al Mihsinah Island activated for the first time through a master-planned waterfront community designed around connectivity, wellness and integrated living. Under the partnership structure, DMT will contribute land while Aldar will act as master developer.

The announcement described the collaboration as a new model for urban development that combines housing accessibility, community building and long-term economic growth within a coordinated framework.

The master developments will draw on Aldar’s experience delivering destinations including Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and Al Raha Beach.

At Muwaylih, Mussafah, Al Zahiya and Al Faya, the partners said they will create a mix of lifestyle-focused developments and Value Housing Programme homes designed to serve a range of market segments.

The communities will include walkable neighbourhoods, green public spaces, schools, retail offerings and community gathering areas.
