 Centre - Renovation A landalus P r oper t

This award will be presented to a centre that demonstrates innovation in its renovation
through architecture and design, how it has contributed to the overall regeneration of the
town, city or area, its contribution to the local community and the steps it has taken to
reimagine the shopping experience, whilst improving sustainability.

 Alandalus Mall
 JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA
Considered as one of the most important
centres of attraction for tourism in the
city of Jeddah, the Alandalus Mall is
located on prince Majed road and has a
 built-up area of 145,000sq m. The mall
has around 398 shops with more than
94,000sq m of GLA and parking space
that accommodates for more than 2,033
cars. The main goal of the renovation was
to create a destination and an experience
that was based on new strategies in malls
all around the globe due to the rising
 importance of environmental conditions
and climate needs. Another key goal of
the renovation was to transform the
mall from an indoor theme to an outdoor
 urban experience. Meanwhile, creating
 strong connections between the street
and the shops was also imperative in
 their thinking.

 Hayat Mall,
 RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA
The Hayat Mall is located on
 King Abdul-Aziz Road in a
 highly populated area which
is home to a large amount of
 commercial and architectural
activity and is a main shopping
area for most of the local resi-
dents. Spread across an area of
150,000sq m, the mall is home
to more than 400 shops on an
area of 90,032sq m of GLA and
 parking spaces that can accom-
modate up to 2,458 cars. The
 idea behind this renovation was
 to create the best destination
 and best possible experience
visitors to the mall. Elements of
interest in this project are the
 new design work that supports
 the opportunities for social
 gatherings, transforming the
 mall into an unexpected urban
 experience and re-activating
 cold circulation zones and
 creating new use areas.
