LIVE OAK, Texas – Preparations are underway to finish the first IKEA Furniture Store in the San Antonio area. However, some are worried the large store could cause traffic problems.
‘There will probably be a lot more traffic’ said Daniel Farias, a Live Oak resident. ‘A lot more congestion. Traffic in this area is generally pretty bad as of late. I think it’s going to add to an already pretty bad problem.’ The new IKEA store will provide roughly 250 full time jobs to the area.
The store manager at the Live Oak IKEA says she doesn’t think traffic, caused by the furniture store, will be an issue.
‘We’re working really close with the local police departments,” said Goodchild. I’m not worried about traffic. I think that the team that we pulled together, to take care of those things, they’re exerts. I trust they’re doing what’s best for the community.’
Thousands of shoppers are expected for the store’s opening day on February 13th. Goodchild says shuttle buses will be used for people having to park at offsite locations.
