Fitness First UK Launches Red Light Therapy Yoga and Pilates in First for Major UK Gym Chain

Fitness First UK is bringing advanced recovery technology into the heart of the gym experience through a new partnership with science-backed wellness technology brand, BON CHARGETM.

Recently launched at Fitness First’s Marylebone and Cottons clubs, the initiative introduces new Yoga and Pilates classes integrating BON CHARGE’s Red Light Therapy Blanket, giving members access to wellness technology more commonly found in specialist recovery studios and premium wellness clinics.

The classes are included within standard Fitness First memberships and will provide members access to wellness technology designed to support movement, relaxation and recovery in dedicated studios in the gym. This is the latest initiative that forms part of the Company’s mission to make premium wellness experiences more accessible to everyday members.

Fitness First will host multiple Red Light Therapy Yoga and Pilates classes each week, initially across two of its clubs in Marylebone and Cottons. The launch reflects the growing role of recovery, stress management and wellbeing within mainstream fitness and the adoption of technologies to support this.

According to BON CHARGE’s Global Wellness Tech Trend Report1 which surveyed 2,000 Brits, currently just one quarter of UK adults have explored the use of red light technology, 87% of whom have started using it in the last two years. Almost a quarter (23%) of respondents are opting for red light devices that aid recovery post workout.

Fitness First will also introduce BON CHARGE’s Infrared PEMF Mat Max which combines Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (“PEMF”), red light and heat therapy into the recovery space at its Cottons club, making it one of the first mainstream UK gym chains to incorporate PEMF recovery technology.

The partnership forms part of Fitness First’s wider strategy to evolve its clubs into holistic wellbeing destinations and enhance the member experience as demand for recovery-focused facilities continues to grow. It comes after the Company last week announced the rollout of digital wellness technology with kip, giving members the option to disconnect from phones and avoid distractions from social media and emails during their workout sessions.
