Goop to open pop-up in Tokyo

    Celebrity lifestyle company Goop, which was founded by Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, is coming to Japan on April 19. Located in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, Goop will open both a pop-up store and café in Japan, nestled in the garden of commercial and residential complex Tokyo Midtown.

    Covering 2,000 square feet with seating for 80 people, the pop-up is Goop’s first-ever café. Serving dairy-free dishes based on classic California-style recipes, the Tokyo café’s menu includes a black bean quinoa bowl and chia pudding with berries, with each menu item made using high-quality Japanese ingredients. In-store, Japanese consumers can shop in-house brands “Goop by Juice Beauty” (skincare), and “Goop Body” (bodycare) along with clothing from G. Label and G. Sport.

    The Tokyo store will also sell Japan-exclusive t-shirts and tote bags, among other limited-edition Goop goods. “Opening a store in Japan has been a dream of mine for many years. Japan is one of the places I love the most,” Paltrow said in a press release, as reported by Kyodo News. Launched by Paltrow in 2008, Goop was created as a lifestyle brand to “enable all women to live their lives in more beautiful, more healthy ways that are more in keeping with themselves,” according Goop’s website.

    Paltrow develops all the products, alongside curated goods and services based around the categories of wellness, travel, food, beauty, style, and work. Since its debut online, the Goop brand has entered the U.K., and has permanent stores in L.A., New York and London. Goop Tokyo pop-up & café will be open from Friday April 19 until Sunday May 26 at Tokyo Midtown, Midtown Garden.
