Herschend Acquires Palace Entertainment’s US Parks

Herschend Enterprises, the world’s largest family-owned themed entertainment company, has announced the acquisition of all U.S.-based properties owned by Palace Entertainment.

This move significantly expands Herschend’s footprint across the American family attractions sector. It signals a key shift in the operational focus of seller Parques Reunidos, which will now concentrate on its European portfolio.

Palace Entertainment’s US operations encompass over 20 attractions across 10 states, including some of the country’s most historically significant and well-loved venues. Among the highlights are Kennywood in Pennsylvania, famed for its mix of vintage wooden coasters and modern rides; Dutch Wonderland, a leading destination for families with young children and Lake Compounce in Connecticut, the nation’s oldest amusement park and home to the award-winning Boulder Dash roller coaster.

For Herschend, the acquisition complements its longstanding commitment to creating immersive, family-focused experiences. The company already operates a diverse portfolio that includes theme parks, aquariums and resort properties, drawing over 20 million visitors annually. This latest addition consolidates its presence in key US markets and introduces established regional brands into its operational network.
