Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is expanding its footprint in India, opening a 3000sqft store in Pune, adding to its existing locations in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
Over the next five years, Ingka Group plans to open 25 small- and medium-sized stores across the country, as it accelerates its multi-format growth strategy.
Large-format stores are also under development outside New Delhi as part of Ikea-owned shopping centres. Gurugram is set to open first, followed by Noida.
Ikea India CEO Patrik Antoni said the company has built a strong understanding of local customers and is confident about taking a “bolder leap” in its expansion.
“We can inspire more people to make the most of their living situations – offering ideas and solutions that may be new to many people in India,” he said.
