A huge £90 million expansion is planned for a designer outlet village that’s just an hour away from Essex.
McArthurGlen Ashford Designer Outlet will have more than 130 stores, restaurants and cafes when work is completed.
The expansion alone will see the site expand to 100,000 sq ft.
It will be so big that owners of the outlet say it will become “one of the UK’s flagship fashion, food and homeware destinations” when it’s finished. The building work is being carried out by McLaren Construction and is expected to be finished in autumn this year.
Ashford Designer Outlet is just one hour away from parts of Essex like Grays and Purfleet. This will be the first expansion the outlet has had since it opened in 2000.
Over the last 18 years, the outlet has attracted more and more shoppers and now has around 3.6 million visitors every year.
Ashford Designer Outlet already boasts 70 top brand name stores such as Kurt Geiger, Hugo Boss, Fred Perry, Lacoste and Polo Ralph Lauren.
There are discounts of up to 60 per cent off products at the outlets numerous branches
