Darlington is getting a new taste of flame-grilled flavour, as Pepe’s Piri Piri prepares to open at Cornmill Shopping Centre.
The franchise has signed a 10-year lease agreement, highlighting their confidence in Cornmill Shopping Centre and Darlington town centre.
The opening follows feedback from town centre residents and shoppers who felt there weren’t enough eateries in the area. Founded in 2004, Pepe’s Piri Piri has built a reputation for bringing authentic Piri Piri to the high street, with a focus on flame-grilled techniques and customisable spice levels that have established it as a recognised name in the healthy fast food sector.
Commenting on the announcement, Zoe France, Centre Manager at Cornmill Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pepe’s Piri Piri to Cornmill Shopping Centre. Our customers have been asking for more food options within the centre and we are pleased to be delivering on that feedback with this opening.”
Pepe’s Piri Piri is set to occupy the former Burger King Unit, which closed its doors towards the end of 2020. This transformation marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance Cornmill Shopping Centre’s food and beverage offering. The opening is expected to create several new employment opportunities, including kitchen staff, customer service roles and management positions.
Speaking on the store opening, a representative from Pepe’s Piri Piri, said: “The team is excited to be opening soon in Darlington. We’re proud to be offering the community a new food option within Cornmill Shopping Centre.”
