Located at 253 Elizabeth Street, the new store opened last week and is surrounded by the neighborhood’s wealth of trendy cafes, art galleries and boutiques. Ideated by London-based creative office Made Thought, the store offers a range of classic and new Persol styles, including a limited-edition version of the brand’s popular 649 frames with ‘Nolita’ engraved on the inside temple, available exclusively at the New York City store.
Additional special features of the New York store include customization and engraving, optician and prescription services, and the option for customers to create original color combinations of Persol’s five top-selling models. All frames are further customized with an engraving of the wearer’s initials on the Persol arrow on all models. The New York store’s opening follows the opening of Persol locations on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and in the Brera district of Milan.
“We’re excited to announce the opening of our first New York Persol boutique and our third location globally,” said Rocco Basilico, general manager of Persol retail North America. “Nestled in charming and upscale Nolita, this boutique is reminiscent of the brand’s European roots and offers our clientele an elevated shopping experience matched with neighborhood culture.”
The opening follows the recently confirmed reports that U.S. hedge fund Third Point LLC now owns a $700 million stake in Persol parent company EssilorLuxottica, whose portfolio also includes brands Ray-Ban, Oakley and Oliver Peoples.
