Primark to Unveil Manhattan Flagship in May

The global value fashion and home retailer will unveil its Manhattan flagship – and 40th US location – on 8 May.

Spanning more than 54,000sq ft of retail space, the store is located in Herald Square, at 150th W. 34th St., directly across from Penn Station in what’s called the Penn District. The flagship is Primark’s first-ever location in the Big Apple.

The retailer, which opened its first US store in 2015, at Downtown Crossing in Boston, currently has 38 stores across 13 states. Recent locations include Miami; Grapevine and Katy, Texas and Gurnee, Illinois. It will open its 39th store, at the North East Mall in Hurst, Texas, on 30 April.

“This is a landmark moment for Primark in the US as we open our incredible new flagship at the epicentre of American fashion,” said Kevin Tulip, President of Primark US. “The excitement and buzz around the brand is already building across Manhattan – from busy stores in the surrounding boroughs, to lines stretching blocks at our pop-up Primark Studio in NoHo, we’re expecting strong demand from New Yorkers and tourists for the store. This is our biggest US opportunity yet and we can’t wait to open our doors and introduce this iconic city to Primark’s iconic style and prices on 8 May.”

In November, Primark opened “Primark Studio”, a showroom in New York City’s NoHo neighbourhood. Open weekends through May, the 1,000sq ft space carries between 30 to 40 display-only SKUs in a wide array of sizes, enabling shoppers to engage with merchandise. It also hosts different events including fitness classes and panel discussions, and features the chain’s free in-store “Love It Longer” repair classes.
