Ted Baker’s Ray Kelvin resigns amid harassment inquiry

Ted Baker chief executive Ray Kelvin has announced his resignation with immediate effect following misconduct allegations against him. Kelvin was initially compelled to take a leave of absence after allegations of forced “hugging” was put against him by Ted Baker staff last year.

While Kelvin has continued to deny all allegations, Ted Baker has announced its founder will step down as chief executive and director. “Ray Kelvin founded the business 32 years ago and has, together with the fantastic team around him, been the driving force behind it becoming the global brand it is today,” Ted Baker executive chairman David Bernstein said. Meanwhile, the investigations into the harassment claims are currently led by law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, along with an internal independent committee. Acting chief executive Lindsay Page has agreed to continue in the role, with Bernstein providing additional support until no later than November 30 2020.
