Le Pain Quotidien Returns to India

Belgian bakery-cafe chain Le Pain Quotidien has re-entered the Indian market with a new outlet at Palladium Mall in Mumbai, as part of a master franchise agreement with Bake & Brew Private Limited.

The store is located in the mall’s Gourmet Village zone, which features a range of local and international restaurants, including Gold by Ice Cream Works, Burma Burma and Kuuraku.

The brand, whose name means “the daily bread” in French, previously launched in India in 2010 but exited the market in 2020 during the pandemic. Last August, Le Pain Quotidien signed a new franchise agreement with Bake & Brew, aiming to open more than 100 outlets across the country by 2035.

Founded in Brussels in 1990 by Alain Coumont, Le Pain Quotidien operates more than 200 locations across 18 countries. The company plans to open a second Mumbai store by the end of this year and expand into other major cities, with a particular focus on travel and transit hubs.
