RIMOWA has chosen the Ginza Sony Park in Tokyo to present its immersive RIMOWA Life Cycles pop-up event.
The three-day event embodies RIMOWA‘s philosophy that suitcases should be cherished for a lifetime and passed down to future generations. At the venue, visitors can experience the world of RIMOWA through a variety of content celebrating the brand’s craftsmanship, personalisation and innovation. At the ground floor entrance, a giant model of RIMOWA‘s iconic Original suitcase, disassembled from its original form and presented in a sleek and understated showcase, greets visitors. The staircase leading to the main venue displayed special exhibit pieces collected from around the world.
Valuable archive pieces stored at the RIMOWA headquarters and special suitcases borrowed from celebrities are presented along with the stories behind each piece. The pop-up title is a nod to the philosophy that RIMOWA cherishes. RIMOWA suitcases continue to live on, going through many different cycles. Crafted by skilled craftsmen, each suitcase begins its history, accompanying its owner throughout their life. Every scratch, every sticker, every ‘mark’ accumulated during their journeys tells a story.
The journey of a suitcase, built to last, never ends; its story continues as it is passed down from generation to generation. On the third floor, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions, including the world’s first live exhibition of RIMOWA‘s circular economy RE-CRAFTED programme, a care centre where expert technicians perform maintenance up close, the world premiere of the new customisation service Original Unique and last but not least, a gift shop featuring event-exclusive items, including a charm designed with Tokyo‘s IATA airport code TYO.
