UK Retail sales fall in May

Retail sales have fell in May for the second straight month as poor weather hits the United Kingdom. The figures add to the overall feeling that Britain’s economy slowed in the second quater after a strong start to the year.

The Office for National Statistics said Thursday that retail sales fell 0.5% in May compared with April, with declines reported in clothing and footwear outlets, as well as in food shops and department stores.
