River Island is to expand at Hines’s The Centre, Livingston taking an additional 3,000, sq ft to increase its River Island Kids range and also extending its lease, signing for a further 10 years. The larger store is due to open in August 2018.
River Island is the latest retailer to demonstrate its commitment to The Centre. Recent deals include a new Lovisa, the relocation of both Greggs and Holland & Barrett into larger premises in their new formats, and the upsizing of Barrhead Travel for their cruise and faraway holiday products, including a specialist section for USA and Canada. In addition, Yours and Bon Marche have relocated to new premises on longer leases.
The investment in The Centre has also extended to a £1.8m refurbishment programme of parts of the centre. Located adjacent to The Centre is Almondvale West Retail Park which is undergoing a £3.5m refurbishment programme to enhance the buildings and public realm to include new wayfinding, glazed facades, classing and car park resurfacing.
The Centre, which is one of Scotland’s largest covered shopping centres, comprising 1m sq ft is situated in Scotland’s commercial heartland and home to over 160 retailers, including Primark, Debenhams and M&S and various restaurants, including Nando’s, Wagamama and ASK Italian.
