Dubai Airports issues tender for ‘world-class eommerce solution’

Dubai Airports is inviting commercial partners to develop and operate a ‘world-class ecommerce solution’ for retail, food and hospitality services across Dubai International (DXB).

The airports operator says this is in line with its strategy to transform DXB from a ‘conventional airport operator to a consumer-led organisation’, focused on developing exceptional experience and choice.

As reported, Dubai Airports unveiled a new brand for DXB back in February this year. According to the company, the new brand transforms DXB into a destination in itself. “This will be achieved by creating immersive virtual experiences that bring Dubai landmarks into the airport as well as an array of music, art, dance and fashion exhibitions that showcase local culture and celebrate diversity,” said the company.

‘ANYTHING, ANYWHERE’

Eugene Barry, Executive Vice President of Commercial at Dubai Airports, says of the new tender: “This opportunity – which promises ‘Anything, Anywhere’ to global travellers at DXB – represents what could potentially be the world’s first integrated marketplace of its scale inside an airport, involving an end-to-end consumer engagement platform connecting entertainment, shopping, dining and hospitality solutions for travellers on a single platform, and challenges the industry’s definition of commercial boundaries at airports.”

The request for proposal is specific to the selection of qualified partners to design, deploy, maintain and operate the eCommerce component, and to implement and operate a retail and food fulfilment service.
