Japan’s ABC-Mart is making its debut in the Philippines, opening a store in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Manila, in September.
The launch marks the company’s second market in the region after Vietnam, where it debuted in 2022. ABC-Mart runs nearly 400 overseas stores, mainly in South Korea and Taiwan and is exploring growth opportunities in Thailand and Indonesia.
“BGC is the perfect place for ABC-Mart to open,” said Kabir Buxani, incoming CEO of Sonak Retail Group, ABC-Mart’s local partner. “It has a very vibrant atmosphere and leads in terms of fashion.”
The two-level “Grand Stage” store will cover 750sq m and carry more than 1,000 products, including limited-edition sneakers, sandals and apparel from Nike, Adidas, Puma, Asics and New Balance. It will also feature a wellness corner – the brand’s first worldwide – blending footwear with lifestyle products.
Koji Higashimae, CEO of ABC-Mart Sonak Philippines, said their goal is to balance variety with accessibility. “We believe that style should never compromise comfort – and great fashion should be accessible to everyone,” he said.
