Gastronomica has opened the second outpost of its homegrown Kuwaiti concept, Mala, in Sabah Al Salem.
Located in the heart of Al Arjan Complex, the new venue brings the brand’s signature take on modern Kuwaiti cuisine to a wider audience following the success of its debut in Khiran. Known for reimagining traditional dishes through a contemporary lens, it offers a refined yet familiar dining experience that celebrates Kuwait’s culinary heritage.
Interiors are intentionally warm and understated, evoking the spirit of Kuwaiti homes in the 1980s and 90s – a design choice that speaks directly to a new generation of diners seeking both comfort and culture.
Menu highlights include a slow-cooked short rib machboos, where tender beef is served atop fragrant spiced rice with dried limes, saffron and caramelised onions. Other offerings include classic appetisers, hearty mains and authentic desserts, all designed to strike a balance between memory and modernity.
“This new location is a natural evolution for Mala,” said Naveed Dowlatshahi, COO of Gastronomica. “It allows us to bring a beloved Kuwaiti concept closer to the heart of the city, while continuing to reflect the values that make it special – storytelling, simplicity and flavour.”
