The world-renowned department store company has revealed the list of a handful of stores that will close this year.
The department store giant plans to close six-full Macy’s stores in the first quarter of 2022. It also will close one Bloomingdale’s outlet, at Miromar Outlets in Estero, Florida, which will go dark by the end of Macy’s current quarter.
“The delayed closure of certain stores allows us to maintain a physical presence in the market, which is critical to our top-line growth,” CFO Adrian Mitchell told analysts. “Digital performance is stronger in the markets where we have stores.”
In addition to opening smaller format stores, including the new Bloomie’s concept, Macy’s plans to open more than 400 Toys “R” Us in-store shops in its stores this year.
The Macy’s stores that are closing are: –
Puente Hills Mall, City of Industry, California, Streets at SouthGlen, Centennial, Colorado, San Jacinto Mall (includes Furniture Clearance Center), Baytown, Texas, Twenty Ninth Street, Boulder, Colorado, Summit Fair Shopping Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Brookwood Village, Mountain Brook, Alabama.
