Merlin Entertainments has reaffirmed its £70M commitment to expanding LEGOLAND Florida and LEGOLAND California with the unveiling of new space-themed experiences, marking the largest single in-park investment in the history of both resorts.
The projects are scheduled to debut in early 2026 and feature immersive indoor rollercoasters, designed to elevate the overall guest offer and advance the transformation of these resorts into full-scale destination experiences.
This expansion follows the July opening of LEGOLAND Shanghai and signals continued momentum in Merlin’s long-term partnership with the LEGO Group. The investment aligns with Merlin’s broader strategy to enrich high-performing assets and scale brand-based experiences across its global portfolio.
At the heart of this latest development are two groundbreaking indoor roller coasters, one for each resort. These new attractions are expected to be the most technologically advanced ever introduced at either LEGOLAND site. Developed by Merlin Magic Making, the company’s internal creative and engineering division, the rides will combine immersive environments with digital storytelling and LEGO-themed interactivity.
The attraction concept centres on space exploration, offering families a chance to embark on an intergalactic LEGO adventure together. The design and narrative will reflect both the iconic LEGO identity and the imaginative wonder of space, extending the brand’s storytelling capacity and broadening the appeal to new visitor segments.
This approach continues Merlin’s proven formula of combining IP-driven theming with innovation in ride systems and guest engagement, an essential strategy for sustaining interest and increasing repeat visitation at destination resorts.
