M&S could exit FTSE100

The high street gaint, Marks & Spencer could potentially drop out of the FTSE100 later this week, which would end the retailer’s non-stop presence since the index of leading shares was launched 35 years ago.

M&S is currently trying to steady the ship, so to speak. However at this point, it might be like sending coal to Newcastle. The shares are down almost 20% this year – due to factors such as, but not limited to; underperformance issues, particularly in their clothing department and also the shift in consumer behaviour such as faster fashion trends, online shopping and demand for lower prices.
