Diageo, makers of Guinness, has announced plans to invest £73M in ‘Guinness at Old Brewer’s Yard’ which is set to open in Covent Garden, London.
Set to open as a Guinness Microbrewery, Restaurant and Cultural Hub in Autumn 2023, the project will bring life back to the Old Brewer’s Yard which first brewed beer in 1722. Now, 300 years later an investment has been made to create ‘Guinness at Old Brewer’s Yard’, which will build on the success of the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and the opening of Johnnie Walker Princes Street in Edinburgh.
The move displays Diaego’s confidence in London and the UK as a go-to destination for tourists and its commitment to the hospitality sector. The new 50,000sq ft venue will create as many as 150 jobs for the Capital as well as providing a community space within the Covent Garden area.
Dayalan Nayager, Managing Director, Diageo Great Britain, said: “We’re excited to create a new home for Guinness in the heart of London. ‘Guinness at Old Brewer’s Yard’ will strengthen London’s hospitality community and be a must-visit destination for thousands of visitors to enjoy.”
The venue will bring together a world-leading microbrewery which will produce limited edition beers and offers guests tours with Guinness beer specialists to taste and learn about the iconic stout; event paces and central covered courtyard; a Guinness store that will see rare items via collaborations and partnerships bespoke to the London experience; a chance to try exciting new brews, some only available at the project; and rotating cuisine and events at a stunning open-fire kitchen.
