American doughnut chain Randy’s Donuts has opened its first location in Japan, at the Log Road Daikanyama shopping complex in Tokyo.
Founded in 1952, the brand operates 25 stores in the US and has since expanded into South Korea, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. Its Japan master franchisee is operated by Grit International, led by former Don Quijote executive Tsuyoshi Haga.
Haga shared the brand’s distinct packaging helped spark his interest in bringing the concept to Japan. “I incorporated the knowledge I gained over the years at Don Quijote about creating a store that provides entertainment into Randy’s Donuts,” he explained.
The storefront includes a large showcase that displays up to 1,000 doughnuts and features cashless self-service ordering and a dine-in area.
