This would make the mall the world’s first fully enabled offline-to-online high tech shopping centre.
Amid the current climate and the subsequent growth in popularity of e-commerce and online options, the mega mall is aiming to “reinvent the shopping centre experience for both retailer and customer.” Reem Mall currently has 450 stores with 85 of these being F&B outlets and there are plans to sign all of these tenants up to the new Omni-channel system.
The new offline-to-online system will aim to further enhance the shopping experience for customers at the mall. Customers are invited to browse their favourite stores and rather than purchasing their items and having to carry these around with them for the remainder of their trip, they can order via an app meaning that their product will be delivered to a digital locker where they can then pick up all of their purchases.
The concept is described by the company as arms-free shopping where “we truly enable the consumer to drop the shopping at the point of the retailer and we utilise the logistics hub to go, pick that item, store it in a pigeon box, and at the end of your shopping, it can be delivered to a digital locker or to your home.”
