The infamous coffee brand has announced that every cup of coffee will be carbon neutral by the year 2022.
Nespresso has consistently led the way in reducing their carbon emissions in an effort to become more sustainably ethical and following 10 years in the making, the news of this carbon neutral initiative is the next step in the brands promise to tackle emissions in its supply chain and life cycle.
Chief Executive Office of Nespresso, Guillaume Le Cunff, has commented on this announcement, stating “Climate change is a reality and our future depends on going further and faster on our sustainability commitments. That is why we are accelerating our commitments to offer our consumers a way to drink a carbon-neutral cup of coffee by 2022.”
“A coffee, made from the finest and rarest beans, sustainably sourced. I truly believe that both our business and the coffee industry can be a force for good in the world by tackling this pressing issue.”
As part of this initiative, Nespresso plans to implement a number of projects that can assist in this including planting trees in and around coffee farms and supporting and investing in high-quality offset projects.
